GENTLE NUTRITION MINDSET WORKSHOP

Food Freedom means you can eat all foods — including “healthy” foods — neutrally. Learn how to integrate basic nutritional wisdom calmly and casually — without compromising your recovery.

I've worked with so many people who learn how to stop binge eating but get stuck feeling like they're "not allowed" to re-introduce vegetables, incorporate structure, or cope with emotions without using food. There is often hesitation around re-integrating these levels of self-support because these things were once associated with restriction.

I designed this workshop to help those who are in true recovery, but need some permission around these concepts and a supportive space to explore them.

This workshop is a slow, gentle introduction of concepts to help you reintegrate nutrition, structure/planning, and emotional awareness into your life in a flexible, easy-breezy, safe-feeling way.

FAQs

Will I learn about macronutrients and nutritional interventions for health?

Nope! This is a mindset course. I am not an RD and nutritional science falls beyond my scope of practice. I believe that most of us already KNOW the basics of nutrition and don’t need to “learn” any more about that. This course focuses on MINDSET — how to feel safe incorporating that basic knowledge in a safe, middle-ground way.

What can I expect to learn over these 8 weeks?

I think it’s more about how you can expect to FEEL after these eight weeks. My goal for you is to feel an “out-breath” when it comes to food choices — saying No thank you when it makes sense, saying Yes to a wide variety of foods, and implementing structure that supports you if/when you need it. This is a cognitive AND embodied course to create ease around all foods, fun and nutritious alike.

I haven’t stopped binge eating. Is this course right for me?

For some people, binge eating is a result of restriction. This course is NOT appropriate for anyone who is still dealing with active physical or mental restriction. This course is NOT appropriate for anyone who has not fully deconstructed the diet mentality. If you are binge eating as a result of somatic dysregulation or difficulty holding “no” boundaries with yourself (absent of restriction), this course may be appropriate. Please consult with me prior to enrolling if you aren’t sure.

I want to lose weight. Is this course right for me?

Wanting to lose weight does not preclude benefiting from this course, but you should not be in active pursuit of weight loss. Trying to lose weight distracts from the true meaning of gentle nutrition and will likely cause you to backslide in recovery as you work towards nutrition neutrality.

When I even think about nutrition, I start overeating. Is this right for me?

This course is actually built with you in mind. I developed this course after realizing how many people were stuck in the initial phase of all fun-foods, all the time part of recovery and felt afraid to differentiate between Yes and Not right now, thanks! This course was built to help you feel okay with approaching food with more nuance, but without diet culture’s input.

Does this course focus on things like vegetables and more protein?

Absolutely not. There are no food plans in this course whatsoever. You will be exploring your personal areas of growth as defined by you. Maybe you want to have a meal plan because it would make your busy life more convenient, but it reminds you of diet culture days and you’d like to work on that. Or maybe you want to feel like it’s not restricting to say no to dessert when you don’t really want it, but think you have to have it because all foods are allowed. You will decide what areas to focus on during this program.

What is the call structure?

The call structure is similar to previous courses: presentation style for the first 2/3 of the call followed by group discussion and Q&A.

Can I join from anywhere?

Yes! Many participants are international and as the time zone conversion works for you, you can join from anywhere. If the time zone conversion does not work for you, you can still benefit from the call recordings and emailed materials, and you are invited to send your questions to me via email to address on the live calls (which you can watch on playback).
